Coffee beans are traditionally grown in tropical climates that offer plenty of sunlight and warmth. Columbia is a popular growing region that produces smooth and well-rounded coffee. It's often roasted to a medium darkness that further complements its mellow and nutty flavor. Here are four drinks you can prepare with whole bean Colombian coffee.

1. Cafe Latte

A cafe latte, often known simply as a latte, is a drink made with espresso and milk. You can make rich, aromatic espresso using Colombian coffee that has been finely ground. Once your espresso is made, you can fill your cup with hot steamed milk. Many home espresso machines have an attached frothing wand to heat and steam milk simultaneously. If you like an espresso machine, you can heat your milk in the microwave or on the stovetop before whisking it with a hand-frother. If you're in the mood for an iced latte instead, you can pour cold milk over your espresso before adding ice.

2. Cold Brew Coffee

The hot days of summer can make drinking a hot beverage sound uncomfortable at best. Luckily, Colombian coffee can be enjoyed cold as well as hot. You can create your own cold brew coffee at home using cold brew coffee bags. To make cold brew coffee, grind your Colombian whole bean coffee coarsely before adding it to your cold brew bag. Place the bag in a pitcher with cold water and set it in your refrigerator to steep. According to Simply Recipes, one cup of coffee to four cups of water is an ideal starting ratio.

3. Coffee Milkshake

Sometimes a craving for sweetness strikes. If you're in the mood for an indulgent dessert, you can whip up a coffee milkshake using whole bean Colombian coffee. First, grind your Colombian coffee beans and use them to brew espresso. Once your espresso is ready, add it to a blender along with vanilla ice cream and milk. Chocolate syrup is another delicious addition. Blend these ingredients until smooth for a sweet pick-me-up that will provide a boost of energy whenever you need it.

4. Americano

If you're in the mood for something stronger than a traditional cup of coffee, you can brew an Americano. An Americano starts with two shots of espresso made from 2 pound whole bean Colombian coffee beans. Once the espresso shots have been pulled, the cup is topped off with boiling water to create a strong, hot drink.
